If it%26#39;s iPods you%26#39;re looking for, you should go to the Apple flagship store on 5th Avenue and 59th Street.

As the previous poster says, you could also go to any of the big electronics stores in town--J%26amp;R, Best Buy, and Circuit City.

J%26amp;R is on Park Row right across from City Hall. Here%26#39;s the link to store info:

There is a Circuit City on 14th Street near Broadway, on the south side of Union Square. There%26#39;s also one around Broadway and 80th.

There are Best Buys at 23rd Street and 6th Avenue, 5th Avenue and 44th Street, and Broadway near Houston. There%26#39;s one on the Upper East Side as well, but I can%26#39;t remember exactly where.

I would suggest you do some research online in advance if it%26#39;s MP3%26#39;s you want and not an Apple Ipod. Prices/features vary widely on MP3 players. There are lots of website that rate the various brands/models. Here%26#39;s one of those

You should go either to one of the BIG local places like J %26amp; R or

B %26amp; H Video OR one of our national chains like those mentioned and I%26#39;ll add Radio Shack. You should NOT go into any small store where prices look too good to be true. They are rip offs.

Absolutely avoid any electronics store that is within one block of Times Square. Also avoid any place that claims to be ';going out of business!!!!!';; they tend to be rip-off joints.

Many thanks for all your quick responses, i can now browse through the sites to find what i want, having the store adress will save valuable shopping time when we%26#39;re over there. Definetly going to check out the apple store again it%26#39;s brilliant,

On our first visit to NY in Feb 2005, my son bought his IPOD at the Virgin store in Times Square and got an excellent deal. We also felt happier that this was a chain store that if there was problem, we could deal with it a bit easier back home in the UK. This Februarym he bought the Zune, again from the Virgin store. The sales asst was very helpful and again an excellent price.

Never thought of using Virgin store, i%26#39;ll be shopping in there for cd%26#39;s so will check electrical goods out too. I agree it%26#39;s reasuring to know you have store back home incase you encounter any problems, thanks. I%26#39;m looking for a mp3 player (1gb would be ample size) which will allow me to search for songs rather than just shuffle like the ipod shuffle. Scan disk seems ideal but i%26#39;ve never heard of it before, anyone got any advice?
