riding subway from Manhattan to Yankee Stadium?

I am planning on going to a game on a Friday night. The game is at 7 pm and I was wondering about the safety of the Subway at this time. Any info? Also how long of a ride? Thanks!

Where are you staying, that will dictate how long the ride is? The subway is extremely safe, it will be crowded before and after the game. The D, B and 4 lines go directly to the stadium. Here is a map.

The subway is perfectly safe then. You are a little more than 30% more likely to be struck by lightning than you are to be the victim of any sort of crime in the subway.

It takes around half an hour from Midtown, but I%26#39;d leave around 545 or 6 so that you can get there a bit early and soak up some of the atmosphere, get hot dogs, etc.

3:08 was the time to post, apparently!

By the way, NYWhiz, on your recent post re: staying at JFK, I loved your use of the word ';grotty.'; That%26#39;s not one you see very much, but it perfectly evokes the area around JFK.

Thanks! I%26#39;m not sure where we will be staying yet. That%26#39;s something else to work on. LOL Too many decisions! AGH!!!!

I think that is the decsion that needs to be made first, as it really does shape much of the rest of your planning.

Consider taking the Yankee Clipper, the ferry service that goes up the East River to the Stadium. Wear a warm jacket though, %26#39;cause ti looks chilly out there!

You can pick up the ferry at various spots along Manhattan.

Agreed, though, that the subway is perfectly safe -- you%26#39;ll probably have tons of Yankee fans crowding in with you.
