DAY 9 March 26th 2007

Got up early as we were running out of time in New York. Got the subway to Grand Central Terminal and grabbed our breakfast there. Stuart had a toastie and I had a cheese filled pretzel which wasso good! Was going to have some cheesecake at juniors but we were going for lunch later so wanted to save myself for that. Next time for sure!

What a beautiful building, nice to have a look round and so many people! After that we went down to the shops at 34th Street to get some last minute things and had to pop into Macys for some girfts. We were all shopped out though so we were happy to grab the subway down to South Ferry for our helicopter trip. Our trip was booked for 2 and got there half an hour before. By the time we went through security paid the extrra bit and watched the safety video it was time to go. I had a fantastic seat right at the front at the door. The ride we took was the Lady Liberty Tour and lasted about 7 minutes I think. It was great, loved it and Stuart loved it aswell which was great as it was his birthday present so its great he enjoyed it. Liberty are a good company and everyone was so nice and polite to us. I do recommend this, although maybe next time I would choose a different tour so I could see the rest of Manhattan.

We had reservations at 3 so we had to jump on the subway and ride all the way up town really quickly! We were meeting our friend and some of her friends from work at 3 at Tao which I think is on the UES? All I had to go by was a little restaurant card our friend had given us and it had the address on it, and my friend had said she thought it was near Lexington Avenue and Madison so we didnt have a lot to go on. Anyway, we got off the subway and had NO idea where Tao was and where to go from there. So I said to Stuart lets just go in this direction and hope for the best, and we found it in like 2 minutes! It took us a while to find the door though, heh. We eventually found it and joined everyone at the bar for a drink. There was 10 of us and we were seated right underneath the huge Buddha with a glass table that had a sort of bath-like creation filled with rose petals and candles. What a place!

Went down to the toilet and was a bit confused then a guy came out and I knew which one to go in! (They don鈥檛 say men or ladies on them, I think it said Ying and Yang?!) Anyway most of us went for the lunch menu and it was so good. I ate with chopsticks! Hah. I had the Duck spring rolls for starters (I don鈥檛 normally eat duck) and they were amazingly good! They were so filling though, but luckily our main course wasn鈥檛 brought out straight away. Then I had the steak which was by far the finest steak I have tasted in my life. Yum, it had a sort of ginger taste to the sauce? Oh and I used my chopsticks to eat the steak, Im so impressed with that! I managed to eat all the steak as it was just too good to leave. For dessert I had the Chocolate and Raspberry wontons which werent that great, but the rest of the meal was so good it didn鈥檛 matter. The service was good, the waiter was nice and friendly. We left at 6pm, there was still a few of party there when we left so they didn鈥檛 mind us using the table. Really enjoyed this place, yum yum yum! Would definetley go back. Our bill came to about $520 which was not bad considering how many there was and there was also a few bottles and glasses of wine involved in that.

We ended up walking to 5th Ave by accident and to Abercrombie where I wanted to go back for a top I had seen. After searching the whole shop we asked a guy for it and he said that the clothes on the display models they don鈥檛 normally carry which seemed a bit backward to me. Oh well!

Did a few more shops then back up to the hotel to change and to pack our bags. It was then we realised there was no way our stuff would fit in our bags, yikes! We were so full after our lunch we couldn鈥檛 eat anything for tea so we dondered around Times Square for a while. We went into a little shop and bought a hold all, good bargain just $17 and it was huge! I got a popcorn from the popcorn shop I cant remember the name though, across from the M%26amp;M store? The popcorn was so good! Then we went down to the cinema to see The Hills Have Eyes 2. Good enough film, better than 300 anyway! Stuart had tried to order a sweet popcorn and the guy looked at him like he had two heads, hah! We were tired after that so just got the subway back to the hotel for an early night as we had a long day tomorrow.

Will post the final part later!

Trip Report Part 7: Our last full day

I%26#39;m so sorry to see your reports winding down, they%26#39;re so much fun.

I%26#39;m curious how many people have to shop for extra luggage to hold all their goodies. Seems most do.

Can%26#39;t understand why Stuart got an odd look for asking for sweet popcorn. Caramel corn is very sweet and very popular.

Are you planning to post a photo link?

Trip Report Part 7: Our last full day

Yeh, we took like over 300 photos though! I will need to figure out how to get them onto a site though.

I managed to just fit all my bags and shoes that I purchased into my original very large suitcase I had brought with me. I didnt think I had bought that much...!

I will miss your reports too. You must post some photos!

I had the same experience in A%26amp;F, I found a lovely top on one of the models and after waiting about 10 mins for an assistant to finish preening herself in the mirror she told me that they don%26#39;t stock it. I assumed they just hadn%26#39;t got around to changing the models but apparently not!

Oh and we ALWAYS have to buy extra luggage, I don%26#39;t get it either because we leave room in our cases before we leave and don%26#39;t buy that much!
