Bohemian Hall Beer Garden

Hi All,

I am traveling to NY for the first time in early May with my partner. We are trying to put together an itineray and I was hoping for some advice!

My g/friend is from the Czech Republic and we would like to visit the Bohemian Hall Beer Garden in Queens. Can anybody recommend the best time to go? We are in NY from Thursday - Monday and would like to go when it is reasonably busy, but not overly so.

Also, is it easily accessable from Times Square?

Thanks for any help!

A Czech girl might also be interested in a great Czech restaurant, also in Queens: Zlata Praha, or ';Golden Prague';.

Thanks for all of your help. Only 4 weeks to go and we are both getting very excited :-)

We arent going to stick rigidly to an intneray but I will post our ';must see%26#39;s'; on TA when we have decided - there is so much we ant to see and do!!

Re: Bohemian Hall - we are planning to go on Saturday afternoon / evening. Will it be easy to travel from the Bohemian Hall (Astoria) - Times Square around 9pm - 11pm?

On a nice day, usually pretty good chance of that in May, nothing beats the Beer Garden. It doesn%26#39;t open until 5 during the week, 1 on weekends. It fits a few hundred comfortably, though it can get crowded. The bartenders are pretty much all Czech or Slovak, the association who owns it is made up of people of Czech and Slovak heritage. They sell the most Pilsner Urquel in the city.

Easiest way to get there is the N train to Astoria Blvd, exit the exit closest to the bridge, walk up one blck past the playground turn left and look for the Czech flag.
