Breakfast and Dinner at Gaby's or any place recommended.....

I will be staying at the Sofitel for 3 nights and I was wondering is Gaby%26#39;s really upscale? Like do you have to dress up to go there or is it casual? How%26#39;s the food? Is it really expensive(about how much will breakfast cost?)

Is there a variety of food vegetarians? Do they offer turkey/beef bacon or sausage instead of pork?

If no one has experience with Gaby%26#39;s could you recommend somewhere else for good breakfast and dinner?

Menupages.com is a great website for finding restaurants and checking menus. I haven%26#39;t eaten at Gaby but I%26#39;d guess you wouldn%26#39;t have to dress up there for breakfast and they should have a reasonable selection of food. But it will prob. be pricey as most hotel breakfasts are.

On the same street as the Sofitel is the coffee shop the Red Flame. It%26#39;s your basic decent NYC coffee shop which means I%26#39;m not sure how good it is for vegetarians. Although, depending on how strict you are, you can certainly find pancakes, waffles etc. if you eat eggs.

At the Time Warner building on Columbus Circle (about a 10-15 minute walk from the Sofitel) there%26#39;s a huge Whole Foods market in the basement of the building that would have anything and everything. On the way there, there%26#39;s also a place called Le Pain Quotidien (on 7th ave %26amp; 58 st) that has very good pastry, yogurt etc.

Looking on menupages in the west 40%26#39;s (where Sofitel is) then selecting breakfast and then veggie, I find one place listed called Green Symphony only a few blocks away, but it%26#39;s for take out only.

The 42nd Eatery at 42 st just east of Fifth Ave. is like a big food court where you help yourself. They have tables upstairs once you%26#39;ve gotten food. I%26#39;m sure you could find cereal etc. there.
