I am Planning a trip to NYC later this month to get engaged. I am planning to pop the question in central park. I would like to know of a good/nice restaurant close by to celebrate and have dinner. Thanks.

Congratulations! It may be a little expensive, but there is always Jean-Georges, in the Trump International Hotel, at Columbus Circle and 60th Street. Very close to Central Park, or at least the southwest corner of it.

If you want to make a reservation for Jean-Georges, you should probably do so soon for the end of the month.

Well there are so many places.If I say Tavern on the Green I will get the thumbs down on the forum.It is real close.The Jean -Georges is a nice restaurant.The only other suggestion from me is a dinner cruise around manhattan, new york whiz had a name of a good one.Good luck and enjoy!

How much do you want to spend? While Tavern on the Green gets bad reviews for food, The Boathouse Restaurant in Central Park on the lake is frequently recommended. It is a lovely setting that could follow the proposal.

For an utterly elegant evening with excellent cuisine (and a price tag to match) I love Le Bernardin.

Cafe Des Artistes (West 67th Street) is right near the park and is extremely classy. The waiters will spoil you and the food is divine. Your fiancee will definitely feel special. (But it%26#39;s on the pricey side.) If you go, remember to make a reservation.

What sort of budget, food and ambiance would you like for this meal? Central Park is huge (do you have a place picked out) so there are many different restaurants that would be considered near Central Park but not necessarily near each other.

The Time Warner building is at the southwest corner of the park and has a number of restaurants inside, some with views.

Jean Georges, mentioned above, is in the Trump International hotel and sits in the same general area (across from Time Warner)

We are staying just south of the park at The Time Hotel so the proposal will probably be near the pond at the southeast corner of the park.
