hotels

we are coming may 27-30. I am hoping to find something under $200. We will be going to the theatre, I am not sure which one yet and I plan on going to central park. everything else is up in the air. I am taking my 21 year old daughter and she has never been there.

Check hotel prices at someplace like expedia.com or hotels.com. I got pretty good rates at the Rockefeller Hotel. I paid a little more then $200 a night though

If you and your daughter are willing to share a double bed, you could get a room with a private bath at the Pod Hotel, on East 51st Street between 2nd Avenue and 3rd Avenue. $179 the first night, $189 the second and third nights; total with tax would be just under $650.

That%26#39;s just a quick suggestion; others will certainly have more.

I would suggest beginning by looking at places like quikbook.com to see what they offer, and finding a place within your price range and make a reservation that you can cancel if you need to. Then try Priceline or Hotwire and see what you can come up with. If you are unfamiliar with Priceline and Hotwire, go to www.betterbidding.com or www.biddingfortravel.com to learn how those systems work. Once you make a reservation through Priceline or Hotwire, you would then cancel your original reservation. But you need that original reservation just in case nothing works on Priceline.

Keep in mind wherever you stay in Manhattan you will be paying 13.38% in state and local taxes, and $3.50 per night in occupancy tax. So if you meet your $200 a night budget, you%26#39;re tacking on close to $100 to your total cost. I mention that only to point out that if you are budgeting $600 total for your three nights, your per night room cost will actually be closer to $170 per night, which might be a lot harder to find than $200 per night.

Thanks for the tip!
