Tickets for shows.

We are staying at Doubletree Times Square in a couple of weeks. We only have 2 nights to see shows and wondered how easy and available cut price tickets would be for these shows?

1. Chicago

2. A Chorus Line.

3. Mary Poppins.

4. Spamalot.

We wanted to see The Producers but I think it closes before our trip?

Here is the website for the TKTS booth in Times Square -- famous for selling ';right before performance'; discount tickets.

Use the drop-down menu at the top of their site to select the type of event, like ';musicals';, then simply click ';GO'; without filling in anything in the blank. A list of productions will appear. Look at the column that says: ';Listed at Tkts';. That will tell you the likelihood that a certain show is being sold at the Tkts booth.

Check www.broadwaybox.com %26amp; www.theatermania.com to see what discounts are available (both free to join).

The Producers closes on April 22.

Availability at the TKTS booths varies from day to day, you won%26#39;t see Mary Poppins there, for sure.

Chicago is frequently up, I have seen A Chorus LIne there, and Spamalot occasionally.

It also depends what nights you are talking about. Friday %26amp; Saturday are more difficult.

I thnk HopSkipJump forgot to post the website to the TKTS booths:

Poppins won%26#39;t be up and I don%26#39;t think is running any discount promos right now. Chorus Line usually only shows up on weekdays..and their discount is only good on weekdays too.

Spamalot...use broadwaybox and buy ahead as it%26#39;s a crap shoot if this is up on TKTS. I usually only see this on weekdays as well. They are regularly selling out on weekends.

Chicago...you definitely have a shot at getting TKTS...but they do have a discount on broadwaybox.

My thought is this...if you are in NYC such a short period of time...use a discount code and buy ahead. Or just buy ahead period. Why do you want to waste an hour to two hours in line at TKTS and gamble with decent seat locations or availability of shows?

Thank you so much for all your replies. I got onto Broadwaybox.com %26amp; managed to book Chicago %26amp; A Chorus Line for our two available nights in NY. The seats are not bad %26amp; we managed to save about $130 overall PLUS no waiting in line hoping for seats for these shows. All your advice was good especially about not wasting time queuing for tickets. I%26#39;m sure we can find something else more exciting to do!

As usual tripadvisor posters have helped me plan what I hope will be a fabulous trip, thanks again, Carole.
