alta restaurant

planning a dinner at Alta which gets great reviews except for numerous ones on City Search which posts numerous complaints about vermin. Has anyone experienced this problem?

I love Alta - it%26#39;s in a very cool townhouse on a great block of W 10th in the Village (It%26#39;s the former Texarkana location which broke my heart when it closed.)

Alta was among the first to start the small plate movement in NYC (think tapas and mezze) so the portions are small, but 3 or 4 plates should feed you. Good wine list also. Really pleasant place to hang out. Relatively inexpensive. Only vermin I remember seeing were of the human variety ;-)

thanks for the encouraging reply. Will keep my reservation. Which part of the restaurant would you reccomend we sit in--assuming we have a choice.

If it is just the two of you, then the mezzanine by all means - it overlooks the main dining room, has more tables for two and has more room between tables.
