Restaurant Suggestions?

I%26#39;m looking for a nice restaurant for our anniversary dinner in June. We were in town last year about the same time and received some great suggestions so I figured I%26#39;d come back to the folks that know.

We%26#39;re looking for good food along with some good wine. We%26#39;re definitely not drawn to loud or crowded but don%26#39;t feel the need to talk in hushed tones. For food, our tastes are pretty eclectic. My wife loves to have a little of this %26#39;n a little of that, hold the sauce, salad dressing on the side, please. If there%26#39;s lamb on the menu, she%26#39;s interested. We%26#39;re not formal and we%26#39;re probably a long ways from hip.

A couple places we%26#39;ve really enjoyed in town were River Cafe, Mesa Grill, and Ouest. Last year we ended up at Telepan and just loved the 4 course menu with the wine pairings. We%26#39;re staying on the Upper West Side but don%26#39;t mind hopping on the subway or grabbing a cab.

I just had some fantastic lamb at Gordon Ramsay at the London. The other courses were a delight too. The service was perfect, the staff couldn%26#39;t do enough for you. The dining room is very intimate without feeling stuffy or pretentious and very relaxed. Check out the menu here

I second the suggestion for Blue Hill. I was just back there two weeks ago and the lamb was spectacular. Here%26#39;s the site:

Thank you for the suggestions. Those all sound great. I think we%26#39;ll shoot for Blue Hill.

Does anyone know what they do for their tasting menu?

Oh, and what%26#39;s the general feeling on paying corkage to bring our own wine? Out here on the west coast, it%26#39;s pretty common and nobody gives it a second thought. We%26#39;ve got some older wines that are not generally available and are well suited to a special dinner.

Blue Hill%26#39;s tasting menu is five courses, including two desserts, $68. The menu literally changes daily.

Blue Hill%26#39;s corkage fee is $35/bottle which includes full service.

They have a small but very good wine list, with many selections ion the $30-50 price range.

Blue Hill is listed on this chowhound list at $25 fee and good attitude.

Sorry. My info looks old. ;)

Thanks! That%26#39;s good to know about corkage. High for our area is in the $20 range so $35 comes as a bit of a surprise. Still worthwhile and it%26#39;s nice to see that they%26#39;re not likely to have an attitude about it.

And thanks for the link to their wine list. They do have a nice selection.
