Places to eat - NYC - near Red Roof Inn Manhattan

Am looking for a good brunch/breakfast place. I am booked at the RR Inn which I know offers a free breakfast but do like my eggs, bacon or the like.

I know that the RR is surrounded by Korean restaurants and can safely say I dont really want korean food for breakfast but are there any other cheap and cheerful diners that do a good breakfast or brunch? and also good coffee?

RR Inn is on W 32nd Street.

Thanks so much for any suggestions.

Rachel

The Koreans are not open for breakfast. ;) The area is loaded with options since it%26#39;s near Macy%26#39;s and Penn Station. Here%26#39;s a list of coffee shops and diners in the area.

The Cheyenne diner (I gather used in a Tropicana commercial in the UK) is not far.

That%26#39;s sort of a food wasteland, except for Korean and fast food... If you%26#39;re willing to walk 10 blocks for breakfast (appx 1/2 mile) there are numerous excellent places in Chelsea... On 7th and 8th aves... starting at about 21st and heading downtown

Mayrose on 21st and Broadway is a great breakfast place if you dont want to head further west to 7th or 8th

Or, head east to 3rd Ave in the 30s for other options.

There%26#39;s a Speedy%26#39;s (deli/cafe might be a good word to describe it) at 1271 Broadway, ie. very close to the hotel. We stayed at the same hotel in November 2006 and picked up dinner once from Speedy%26#39;s. They had a wide variety of sandwiches, fruit salads, salads, pastas, etc. and everything we had was delicious. Although we had our food to go I recall there was a 2nd floor which I think had some tables for customers to eat on site.

Although not the traditional brunch/breakfast place you are looking for I recommend keeping this place in mind if you do not feel like walking further.

By the way, the hotel breakfast includes white bread, bagels, jam/cream cheese, donuts, microwave porridge, apples and bananas, apple and orange juice, coffee and tea.
