kids restaurants

where are the besr places to take a 7 year old for a meal in NYC

kids restaurants

My experience with my kids (now 11 and 9) is that in the Times Square area, almost any restaurant will be fine. Elsewhere, if your kid is reasonably well behaved (not perfect, just reasonable) , anywhere works as long as there%26#39;s something on the menu they will eat. Most restaurants will have hamburgers or spaghetti, which does it for my kids. I%26#39;m also willing to let them fill up on rice or bread if it means my wife and I get to eat what we want.

On the less flashy and cheaper end of the spectrum, any of our ubiquitious diners (coffee shops) would be good because they have endless menus ranging from hamburgers and chicken fingers to clams casino to veggie burgers, and use indestructable dishes.

I agree that some of the theme restuarants or more famous in Time Square would also be good, like John%26#39;s Pizzeria, Ellen%26#39;s Stardust, Bubba Gump%26#39;s, etc.

The general consensus is that the food at Mars 2112 is abyssmal.

I also recommend Two Boots Pizza - great pizza (';boot of Italy';) and catfish sandwiches (';boot of Louisiana';).

I had friends visiting from Chicago last summer with four daughters ranging in age from 3 to 12 and have a nephew age 7 who enjoy going to the following places when visiting me (which I enjoy as much as they do):

Serendipity 3 (E 60th St between Second %26amp; Third Avenues http://www.serendipity3.com/). Whilst waiting for a table, stop on the corner of 60th and Third and take in a visit of Dylan%26#39;s Candy Bar

Alice%26#39;s Tea Cup (W 73rd St between Columbus and Broadway) http://www.alicesteacup.com/enter.html

Central Park Boathouse (Central Park, enter at E. 72nd St. http://thecentralparkboathouse.com/sections/home.htm) So much fun in the spring/summer months. They love to watch the row boats and gandola rides.

And of course the favorites that THEY enjoy (not so much me!):

Hard Rock Cafe in Times Square (pretty much the same as every other Hard Rock in the world)

Mars 2112 (not so great food, but for some reason, the kids love it) http://www.mars2112.com/

Hope this helps!

Alices tea cup II is also on E64th between 3rd %26amp; Lexington- the %26#39;chips%26#39; [french fries] are fab - so are the fancy cup cakes with butter icing - service quite slow but worth waiting .....

Serendipity also good but must book in advance -

For brunch try the %26#39;Balthazar%26#39;80 spring st between Broadway and Crosby - its a parisian style brasserie - our 9 yr old had pancakes and maple syrup - delicious -

For a snack during the day you can%26#39;t go wrong with the Dining at Grand Central Station - or Saks 5th Avenue Cafe - good kids menu

If you are coming soon - wrap up well we were freezing and had to buy coats out here !!!

Have fun
