If there are two of you with only one bag, take the AirTrain at JFK to Jamaica Station, where you can catch the E train, which stops at 53rd Street and Lexington Avenue, a short two block walk to the Doubletree Metropolitan, which is on Lexington at 51st Street. The whole thing will cost you $7 each.

Do a search here on Trip Advisor for airtrain jfk and you will get all sorts of help.

Here is a link to the Airtrain page at JFK:

And don%26#39;t forget, you can always ask questions, if people aren%26#39;t in a huge rush, they are usually more than willing to help.

Good luck.

At that time of day, my vote is also for the AirTrain.

A cab is set fare, 45 + toll, on Wed morning going into Manhattan, could be slower / more painful than the subway.

Just did the exact same thing last week - arrived in JFK and followed the green colored ';Ground Transportation'; signs where we received our options as to transportation into Manhattan. We opted for the Super Shuttle which is a shared ride van and they took us right to the hotel door. Cost was $17 and was worth it.

The AirTrain/subway that Rocco describes is ideal for your hotel location with not much luggage BUT it depends on what time you set out to travel. If your plane gets in at 8 and it takes you an hour or so to get thru the airport, so you%26#39;re traveling after 9, I%26#39;d definitely do that for $7/person. If it%26#39;s before 9 when you%26#39;re ready to leave, you will be traveling on the subway during rush hour and might not be very comfortable with the suitcase. In that case, I%26#39;d wait a bit or take either Airlink (shared shuttle) or the Express Airport bus to Grand Central station and from there a taxi to your hotel. I would NEVER EVER take Super Shuttle in NYC.

I%26#39;ve taken the Air Train to the E train at Rush Hour with my garment bags and roll aboards and have never had a problem. The nice thing about getting on the E train at the Jamaica Air Train stop is that it is the 2nd stop (from the origin) on the E train so it isn%26#39;t usually crowded yet.

Getting on the E train heading out from Manhattan at Rush Hour isn%26#39;t as much fun, but coming in is generally not an issue.

The Doubletree Metropolitan is so very close to the first Manhattan stop on the E train, very easy. Lexington Avenue has escalators.

If you%26#39;re looking for an exciting New York experience try the Lexington Avenue trains (4, 5, and 6) with luggage at Rush Hour, now that is an effort in futility.

I wouldn%26#39;t worry too much about the E train, it will be a quick and easy trip.

Good point MoreFF!
