We are coming to ny to visit central park and would like a hotel room that will fit our budget. We would like to stay as close to the park as possible not over 300 a night. We need 1 room as our kids are 6 and 3. Does not need to be fancy but clean. Thanks for any info.

We leave in three weeks and have booked the salisbury, on 57th street two blocks south of central park. It offers a suite at a reasonable price, but you will have to check as we booked it in Australia. The web site is www.nycsalisbury.com and read the reviews on TA they are not too bad.

The Salisbury would be ideal. Their rooms are large--some are suites with separate living room and bedroom. In addition to checking their prices on their own website (nycsalisbury.com) also check expedia. I saw some good prices earlier tonight for June.

The Salisbury is near the south end of the park so also near enough to Times Square to see Toys R Us, the Disney Shop on Fifth Ave. etc.

There are also some nice hotels on the upper west side which is more residential. The Beacon and the Excelsior are 2 good places with family rooms up there.

Since your budget is reasonable, there are a number of suite hotels that might work for you depending on when you want to visit. July/August is much cheaper.

Thanks for the info. We live in CT so our trip is just a short drive and have taken the kids to the city for day trips several times. We have been to times square, TOTR, Empire state, but this time we are looking to just visit Central park, the zoo and maybe a musuem.
