First time in NY

I am booking a 4 or 5 day holiday to NYC in October for me, my mum and sister and need some help. I%26#39;m looking particulary for a 4 or 5 star hotel in or close to Times Square. I have been looking through Hotelopia and the ones which have caught my eye are the W times square, 拢1425 for 4 nights and Doubletree guest suites 拢1339 - 4 night. i%26#39;ve read the reviews on here where some are good and some bad, the rooms being small etc. As it%26#39;s 3 people going we do need somne space. Can anyone help me out with any other hotels which are around the same area? I was also looking at the le parker meridian but it%26#39;s only showing a room with one double bed for 3 people! and is 拢1251 for 4 nights. I also quite like how people have said there are complimentary bliss and aveda products in the hotels. is this in every hotel? sorry it%26#39;s so long i%26#39;ve been looking for 3 days straight and reading reviews and i%26#39;m so confused, i have no idea what i%26#39;m doing lol!

Actually, both the W Times Square and The Doubletree are 3-diamond hotels. The Renaissance is a 4-diamond hotel in Times Square. Le Parker Meridien is also a 4-diamond hotel. Not too far away is the Bryant Park Hotel, also 4-diamonds.

There are some great threads here about hotels! I would suggest you use the Search box on the home page for the NY Forums and search or ';hotels';, ';accomodations';,etc. to find some extensive lists with links, comments, etc.

The Radio City Apartments (a hotel) seem to get recommended by the Travel Experts a lot....I believe they have some rooms with little kitchenettes, which are wonderful to have in your room! I would keep an eye out for threads about the place, or even try searching on that name to find out more about them.

Good Luck.....and don%26#39;t fret.....this forum will surely be able to help you out!

Check out the Roosevelt! I have been recommending it alot! It is hard to find a nice hotel near Times Square for $200 a night. This one is on 46th and 5th or madison. . .and Times Square is on Broadway and 42nd up and the surrounding area up to 46th. A short wal from the Rooselvelt. It is a beautiful hotel. And a good deal. If you want an expensive hotel - there is many of those out here . . .but if you are never in it -might as well save the money for shopping and eating!

There are not many 4 star hotels in Times Square and NO 5 star hotels there. (Do you realize the stars are about amenities like restaurants, fitness centers etc. and not ';niceness';?)

The knee jerk reaction for people who%26#39;ve not been to NYC is to stay in Times Square and unless you%26#39;re coming especially to attend Broadway shows, there%26#39;s no reason to stay there. You will find nicer hotels elsewhere and often better prices. Those prices you%26#39;re quoting are quite astounding (HIGH) unless they include airfare.

Of the hotels you mention, the Doubletree Guest Suites in Times Square would be the best option for 3 to a room. All the rooms in the hotel are suites with a separate living room and bedroom. I think some of the rooms have 2 beds in the bedroom and a sofabed in the living room so each of you could have your own bed rather than sharing. This hotel has good views of Times Square and good sized rooms but it%26#39;s popular with families and it won%26#39;t be ';posh'; but nice.

The rooms at the W Times Square are pretty small so not sure this is an ideal spot for 3 in a room.

The Blakely is a lovely smaller hotel with some 1 bedroom suites with 2 beds in the bedroom and a daybed for 1 in the sitting room. I think even at $455/night it would be a lot less money than the ones you mention. It%26#39;s near but not in Times Square (short walk).

I personally would opt for a hotel with a 1 bedroom suite for the 3 of you and the Blakely is not the only option. The San Carlos is another nice suite hotel in midtown on the east side. The Affinia group also have some nice suite options. (Affinia 50, Shelburne Murray Hill, Aff. Gardens, Benjamin, Affinia Dumont are the nicest imo)

The nicest thing about the Parker Meridien is the rooftop enclosed swimming pool. It also has 2 popular restaurants inside (Burger Joint and Norma%26#39;s) and many rooms have nice views. This is near Central Park.

Many hotels offer upscale toiletries but not all.

Actually, there probably are many 4* hotels in TS but they%26#39;re not really luxurious. The Sofitel is lovely near TS but I don%26#39;t think they have a room that would be comfortable for 3. The Parker Meridien has some suites but that will be pricey.
