what's Hotel Pennsylvania (7th Ave @ 33rd.St ) like?

This hotel offers a discount for people attending The InDesign Conference in June/07 at FIT.

Some of the reviews are horrible. Is it really that bad?

I need a clean, safe, reasonable priced place to stay.

Thanks for any help,

Chrissy

Chrissy,

Have a look at the Holiday Inn Express Chelsea. Stayed there a few nights ago. The rooms are small but clean. Hotel is new and the free breakfast was actually very good and very extensive. Check the Holiday Inn website directly. I only paid $139.00 for one night.

It is literally around the corner from FIT.

Do not even consider the Penn its a dump, many bad reviews have been threaded on this hotel already. There are many more choices to stay.

Yes its really that bad. Dont waste your money by staying here. Have a look at the reviews on this site, iv put one up myself.

Hotel Pennsylvania is directly across the street from Penn Station %26amp; Madison Square Garden on a VERY busy street (Macy%26#39;s is a block away). Not the ideal location. Being I live in Manhattan I%26#39;ve never stayed there, but it doesn%26#39;t look so hot from the outside.

Look at hotels in Chelsea, further up in Midtown West or even the upper West side. You can always hop on the subway to get down to FIT.

Chrissy,

Look at this map: http://www.onnyturf.com/subway/

It is an interactive map that shows the different subway lines in NYC. If you stay at any hotel near the 1, 2, or 3 train (that%26#39;s the red line on the map), you could take the subway to FIT and never even have to change trains. At most you would be about a fifteen minute train ride from FIT.

In other words, yes, the Hotel Pennsylvania is that bad. Find another place. You could look at the Red Roof Inn Manhattan, the La Quinta Manhattan, or the Comfort Inn Midtown. www.applecorehotels.com/apple-core-hotels/

They are all somewhat close and tend to be available for less.

Good luck, but stay away from the Pennsylvania.

It is really that bad. I cannot comment on the safety and the price, but I can tell you, from personal observation, that it is filthy inside.
