Dining around Met. Museum

Thank you in advance. I will be in the city this Friday, Saturday or Sunday (hope not Sunday due to weather) with my 19 yr old daughter. She must go to the Museum for a project. Any suggestions for lunch and or dinner in the area. I am not familier with this section of the city other than Central Park and the Boathouse.

The cafes in the museum have been getting decent reviews here, so that%26#39;s one option.

Before I give you a litany of places, what sort of budget/places/food do you want and how far are you willing to walk?

My favorite for lunch is the Belgian chain, Le Pain Quotidien, on Madison Ave. between 84th-85th Sts. Unfortunately, they%26#39;re not open for dinner. Very popular for breakfast and lunch, though, so there%26#39;s usually a line on weekends.

price really is no problem. We will not be having coctails. Just looking for good food, nice place within a few blocks of the met museum. Something nice for mother and daughter. We rarely get to spend quality time together and am looking for a nice day with her.

Cafe Sabarsky is in the Neue museum just a few blocks north of the Met. It%26#39;s in an old mansion and it%26#39;s very atmospheric. It would be nice for lunch or dinner.

King%26#39;s Carriage House is a bit further from the museum but would be very nice for dinner. If you do that, maybe just grab a bite in the museum cafe for lunch and then do the nice dinner.

Sarabeth%26#39;s, in the Wales Hotel, at Madison and 92nd, might be a nice place for dinner, not as hectic as it is there for breakfast and lunch. Check their website for the dinner menu. There are at least two or three other places in the same stretch of Madison that look interesting, although I%26#39;ve not been to them -- small, bistro-type places frequented mostly by locals. There%26#39;s another place a bit further down, closer to 86th I think, called Centolire, that seems to get good reviews.

Vivolo is a nice neighborhood place for good, reasonably priced food in the area. When I am in Manhattan I always stop in for dinner a couple of times. It%26#39;s on the Upper East Side, walking distance from the museum.
