42nd street safe

Yes it certainly will be!!!

Where are people getting the idea that NYC is not safe?

angelv88 - care to comment?

Just had to ask.

Poppa

Its been Disneyfied... It was always safe if gritty!

I feel more safe on 42nd street at night, then worrying about the dark country roads, where I live now.I have a better chance of hitting a deer with my car then for you not to be safe on 42nd street.Do not fear and enjoy new York!

We%26#39;ve stayed at the Travel Inn many times and have felt perfectly safe walking ';home'; from Times Square. You can also take the bus (it%26#39;s a few ';long'; blocks walking).

Note that you are also in walking distance of the Circle Line pier, and highly recommend the ';Harbor Lights'; cruise.

It is not safe because you%26#39;ll be tempted to blow all your money at the Hershey Store, the M%26amp;M Store, ESPN Zone, Madame Tussauds, Foot Locker, the MTV store, Toys R Us, and all the other chains and shops that now line ';The Deuce';.

You%26#39;ll only be safe if you are a recovering crack addict because you won%26#39;t find that on 42nd Street anymore and you%26#39;ll be able to stay safely on ';the program';.

Just so Angelv88 doesn%26#39;t feel mislead when she gets here, the Travel Inn on 42 is in a part of 42 that hasn%26#39;t been Disneyfied yet, but at the same time never was all that bad. The Disney stuff doesn%26#39;t hit until you cross 8th Ave. And I agree that it%26#39;s perfectly safe to walk back at night.

And, I might add, at 8th Ave between 40-42 streets is a HUGE bus terminal (the Port Authority Bus Terminal). Inside the south building is a wonderful bakery, Zaros. Though seating is very limited, if you want some great baked goods to go, this is a great place. They also have, what are IMO, the finest bagels in the world. I go through there on my commute every day.

I think you will be just fine. I%26#39;ve yet to have any safety issues in Manhattan. But if you have any concern after arriving don%26#39;t hesitate to flag a cab or arrange for a car in advance with your hotel.
