Howdy!
I%26#39;ll be in Manhattan in 18 days (oh my goodness, oh my goodness!!!!) by myself for 4 days so I%26#39;ll be hitting Broadway a lot. I grew up in the theatre and truly appreciate straight plays more than the average person, but I%26#39;m also a sucker for GOOD musicals. I have my ticket for ';Talk Radio'; already (can%26#39;t wait to see Liev Schreiber) and likely will go see ';Legally Blonde'; as well. That leaves me one open night. I%26#39;m VERY tempted to see ';A Moon for the Misbegotten'; because of Kevin Spacey, one of my favorite actors of all times, however, I%26#39;m worried that a 3-hour running time is a bit too long even for me (for a Eugene O%26#39;Neill show--very depressing). Has anyone seen that show (with or without Kevin Spacey) or heard anything in the last couple days since the previews started? My other thought at this time is ';Avenue Q'; but I have a feeling that%26#39;ll be touring soon...while ';Moon'; with Spacey won%26#39;t come around again...any advice???
Anyone seen ';Moon for the Misbegotten?';I have tickets for Moon in May. The production is just moving from London, and the reviews of the show are here. The entire cast is the same.

Anyone seen ';Moon for the Misbegotten?';There%26#39;s a few reviews on the message board at Broadwayworld.com Lots are mixed and saying Spacey%26#39;s performance isn%26#39;t all that....and that Colm Meaney and Eve Best are standouts. I%26#39;m not sold on going to see it yet. Same goes for Frost/Nixon. I%26#39;m waiting to hear how the Coram Boy transfer sounds as well.
If you want a play...see Journey%26#39;s End...it%26#39;s the best reviewed play of the year so far and it was completely riveting, engrossing, and intense.
BroadwayGirl, I agree about Journeys End, too bad it is not selling better, it is absolutely fantastic.
Am seeing Frost/Nixon tonight, will report back.
Not really interested in Moon, KS is a bit pompous these days, don%26#39;t you think?
Complete shame that Journey%26#39;s End isn%26#39;t selling well....it truly is a great production..not a weak link in the cast.
With the salary Spacey got producers to pay him for this and the box office % take he was demanding....he%26#39;s definitely coming off a bit pompous! Many are saying this won%26#39;t recoup it%26#39;s producers investment.
I%26#39;m anxious to hear about Frost/Nixon since I%26#39;ve heard such mixed things....please do report back!
Hey BroadwayGirl - MFTM is up on TDF!!!!
I know!! And it%26#39;s for dates I can%26#39;t attend....same goes for the dates they posted for LoveMusik! At least I can try to get student rush for Moon.
Now if Coram Boy shows up on there..it better be for dates I can attend!
Thanks for the heads up though. I%26#39;ve been refreshing all afternoon in hopes I can catch one of the new things I%26#39;m interested in. I decided too late to try to snag Frost/Nixon tickets...they were gone.
BroadwayGirl,
I saw Frost/Nixon in London with the same leading cast (Frank Langella %26amp; Michael Sheen) appearing in NYC. All I can say is Langella is phenomenal as Nixon. He really inhabits the role of Nixon. I remember watching the Watergate saga as a teenager as ';good ol%26#39; boy'; Sam Ervin chaired the judiary committee. Alas, my introduction of politics and corruption. Frost/Sheen comes into his own towards the ends of the production and it is he who claims redemption. I would definitely see this play again.
I saw Moon in London with Kevin Spacey and really enjoyed it. All the performances were fantastic. It was a bit too long, but the comedy moments lightened up the depressing nature. It was well regarded here.
I just saw it today. This is one of my favorite plays of all time (and I am a playwright) and I have seen numerous productions. Spacey is the best James Tyrone I have ever seen, hands down. The entire second act is incredible. He and Eve Best are well-matched and Colm Meaney is pitch-perfect. It won%26#39;t feel like three hours. See it. I%26#39;m sure you won%26#39;t regret it.
Rachel in Weehawken
I saw it in London last fall. I felt it was long and depressing. My English friend loved it. Kevin Spacey really is amazing. I%26#39;d say go see it. I may try and catch it again to see if it hits me differently.
