New York Nightlife & Flamenco

Hi, I%26#39;m looking for a lively restaurant to spend a few hours in with friends, good food, cocktails %26amp; atmosphere. I%26#39;ve been advised that Asia de Cuba or Le Coloniel might be the best options. Any recommendations?

Also does anyone know where i could see some live flamenco of a good standard?

Thanks!

Asia de Cuba is good with a decent sized group. Its family style, so going with 2 limits you... I havent been to the Le Colonial here, just Chicago. Asia de Cuba%26#39;s group also owns China Grill on 52nd and 6th - very similar menu.

There are so many great restaurants here, I dont know where to begin to make other suggestions. Do you want a particular area, Asian/fusion food? Buddakan is the hot place, and it was wonderful when I was there a month ago. Not the typical trendy place with mediocre food.

I know the flamenco photographer - Gilles Larrain. There%26#39;s usually a big flamenco festival here every year, but not sure when. There is some flamenco community here, because the dancers always show up at his parties...

Thanks for the tip, Buddakan sounds good. Not interested in somewhere thats all style %26amp; no substance. As its a one off trip for 4 sisters it%26#39;s good to find the right places

I think the flamenco festival is on at the minute but unfortunately i wont be in NY for a couple of weeks. But those parties i%26#39;m sure can be eventful!

at the risk of mentioning something personal that will get the whole thread deleted - a good friend of mine recently broke up with him, or I would ask for more info about how you can find the flamenco scene!

No worries. I think my dance teacher is in NYC for a few gigs so will get an update from him before i go.

By the way, checked out Buddakan%26#39;s website there now. It looks just like my kind of place %26amp; nice menu. So thanks, great recommendation!

Your question on flamenco dancing got me curious. Check out this website for more info:
